Ah the Iron man, a very popular subject (and has been done to death) since the realase of the movie. This iron man however is more of a impressionist style, removing some of his key features or adjusting the size such in his eyes and face structure.
I don't know if this was meant to be or not, but I reckon it makes this ironman the artists own. Its Unique and whats what is important with this piece.
Hes almost standing in fire, but you can't tell, its where it lets the piece down. There is no context as to why hes there or where he is. I really like the pipes above his top left shoulder, they are so stylistic and create such a amazing image for this and it just works
The color of the smoke is the same as the colour is in armor, it has a great colour balance. This is a very attractive piece. and will a little bit more care on the shading, can be a DD.
You see, its to hard to see where the light is coming from, I think it even confused you by looking at the way you shaded him. The smoke has no body (smoke and fire creates a shadow) and his whole body is shaded wrong. His face looks like its lit from the front, though the pipe and his hands are shaded east to west. It needs clearing up. What I do is I add arrows to my paintings so I never forget where the light is, then paint over them at the end.
All in all, its a great try, line art is top of the range but its just the shading and lighting thats really letting it down. Add some background, fix the shading and this will be a A+ piece.
Nice! Is an old piece but even thought I know has it flaws, for some unknown reason I seem to like how it came out. A lot people too, kinda weird for me. And yes only mouse, didn't have the WACOM until way later. I had fun and it was sure a good learning experience.
Thanks for the visit friend, hope to have back sometime Peace Out!
